TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29 – ARRIVAL AT BENITO JUAREZ AIRPORT (MEX) IN MEXICO CITY
Arrival at Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City (MEX).
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 30 – BASILICA OF GUADALUPE – TEOTIHUACÁN
After the included breakfast, we will begin our tour to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Sanctuary of the Patroness of Mexicans, where we can admire the genuine mantle of Juan Diego with the Virgin. Time for enjoying the guaranteed mass. We will continue the tour to the archaeological zone of Teotihuacán, where we will visit the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, as well as other equally important ruins. Additionally, there will be a brief explanation of the making of pulque, "The White Liquor" (a traditional drink from pre-Hispanic Mexico), and obsidian craftsmanship. Return to the hotel, accommodation.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31 – ATLIXCO "VALLEY OF CATRINAS" AND VAL'QUIRICO "THE MEXICAN TUSCANY" – BREAKFAST INCLUDED
We will start the tour to the Magic Town of Atlixco de las Flores, founded in 1579, a unique town that combines urban growth with its vast New Spanish heritage. We will walk through its pleasant streets and historic center, where we will visit the Municipal Palace with murals by the artist Juan Manuel Martínez Caltenco, the Parish of Santa Maria de la Natividad, El Quisco, Ex-Convent of San Francisco, Monumental Clock, and the Wide Staircase with the mural of the Atlixquenses. During the walk, we can enjoy the Valley of the Catrinas, sculptures over 2 meters tall made by Atlixquense artisans with papier-mâché representing the Day of the Dead. We will continue to the town of Val'Quirico, located in the state of Tlaxcala, a town styled like medieval Tuscany, where we can walk through its alleys with gardens and stone tunnels leading directly to the plazas. This unique town offers a wide variety of gastronomic options from different parts of the world. Additionally, you can take incredible photos of its stone facades, adobe constructions, wood, and brick, all beautifully decorated for the Day of the Dead festivities.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1 – DAY OF THE DEAD IN MEXICO CITY – MONUMENTAL OFFERINGS AND MEXICRANEOS – BREAKFAST INCLUDED
We will head to the Historic Center of the "City of Palaces," where we will visit the Plaza de la Constitución or Zócalo, the National Palace (with its fabulous murals, access subject to authorization by authorities), the magnificent Metropolitan Cathedral, and the ruins of the Aztec Templo Mayor (from the pre-Hispanic era). We will also see the main avenues and monuments, and continue visiting the Monumental Day of the Dead Offerings, where we will see all the elements of traditional offerings, as well as themed offerings. We will walk along Avenida Paseo de la Reforma where we can admire the Mexicraneos exhibition, beautifully decorated by artists representing Mexican culture.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2 – FREE DAY IN MEXICO CITY
After the included breakfast, we will enjoy the rest of the day free for personal activities or optional tours.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 3 – DEPARTURE TRANSFER TO BENITO JUAREZ AIRPORT (MEX) IN MEXICO CITY
After the included breakfast, at the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to take the flight back home (regardless of the airport transfer time, the room must be vacated by 12:00 PM, i.e., noon).
